 | Shay and I met on a Thursday in August of 2008. I remember going to zoology lab that day and sitting down at a table. I looked up and saw the most gorgeous man I had ever seen sitting at the table across the room. He was wearing athletic shorts, a t-shirt, and a Chicago Bulls hat. I think I stared at him the entire class period that day, like a dreamy-eyed teenager! We had a project to do in zoology lab that required a large group of people. Thankfully, Shay was in my group...and we were chosen as partners for this project!! I was beyond excited. We got together every Tuesday for an entire semester. As the weeks went on, we developed a good friendship and I think there were a few sparks :) Neither one of us made a move however, so we each dated other people :( but thankfully neither relationship lasted beyond 3 months. We still stayed in touch and I found out a few months later that he was moving into my apartment complex! We talked all summer long, sometimes until we fell asleep. When we came back here to Oklahoma for school, we finally hungout! I remember he came over at 3pm and we talked until about 2am...it was a great night. About 2 days later, he came over again. This time we talked and watched a movie. I wasn't sure if he liked me or not until he KISSED ME! It was the most wonderful kiss I had ever had! And it is pretty much history after that :) We have been together for 4 years now and I still remember every minute we have shared. Our first date that wasn't just "hanging out" was at a restaurant called El Chico. That was the best date...Shay looked at me all night like I was the only woman in the world. Nobody has ever looked at me the way he did that night. I knew this would be the man I would spend the rest of my life with. I told him one day when we were first dating, I said " I'm gonna be Mrs. Colburn some day, you watch" and here we are! :) |
