When Anna moved from Grand Rapids to Cincinnati in 2011, she transferred to the Target in the Western Hills neighborhood. Little did she know that she would meet her love there. Though Anna and Nick worked at the same store, it took until 2013 for them to really notice each other. Anna worked at the front end, mostly days and evenings, and Nick worked in the early mornings. The two started to notice each other when Anna moved to the pharmacy and Nick started working in security. A mutual co-worker, Amanda, mentioned to Nick that Anna may be a good match for him. After chatting a few times at work, Anna and Nick became Facebook friends late summer 2013. Nick invited Anna to his family's annual Halloween party, however Anna had a Saturday clinical for nursing school at the time and wasn't up to attending the party. Nick included his cell phone number in the party invite, so Anna texted him her regrets and wished him a happy birthday.

Over the next couple of months, the texts continued. Anna was encouraged by her nursing school friend, Trisha, and by her co-worker, Candice. Trisha had a birthday in December and decided to have a party so Anna might ask Nick to attend with her, and she did. Anna traveled to Chicago for the holiday but was in a car accident on her way. After calling her parents, Nick was the first to receive a text.

Once Anna returned to Cincinnati in early January, she and Nick made a plan to see a movie. They saw "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty" at Newport on the Levee and had pizza at Dewey's afterward. They talked late into the night. A few days later, Nick nervously waited at Target for Anna to end her shift. He walked her to her car and asked her out to dinner. The rest they say is history...
