As most of you already know Ben and I have a huge love for travel. After only a few months of dating we decided we would plan a vacation together. What better way to see if we could stand the test of time. Traveling through the Miami airport, enduring turbulence, and over sized bag fees has a way of putting in perspective the longevity of a relationship.
After two years of traveling Ben and I decided Jamaica was the island to see. We stayed at the beautiful Sandals Grand Riviera Resort in Ocho Rios. Ben had just gotten back from a stint in Iraq and his behavior was odd to say the least.
The night before we were scheduled to depart I asked Ben if he would put my shoes in his bag. He said, "No, I don't want you rummaging through my bag". The next morning when we were settled on the airplane I had asked Ben if he wanted me to put his bag in the overhead compartment. He said, "No, I don't want anyone to take it". The last straw was when we got into our hotel room. I hear him yell from the other room, "Baby, this is so cool my whole bag fits in the safe."
Our time in Jamaica was a short three nights. The last day we were in Jamaica Ben and I spent our time relaxing by the pool bar. We took in a few games, the dollar dance (we will teach all of you one cent, five cent, ten cent, dolla dolla dolla), and a couple cocktails. I fell asleep by the pool and when I woke up to find my fiance no where around I started to wonder. When he came back he told me he was at an animal towel making class. Out of all my years working as a travel agent I was almost 100% positive Sandals did not offer this course!
Later that evening Ben had a beautiful private dinner on the pier set up for us. As I walked up to this beautiful candelight dinner table with roses the one thing that caught my eye was the personalized menu, "Romantic Candleight Dinner for Benjamin & Alexandra Honey". The only words I could form in my head were "Really Sandals Really? For the past three days you have called me Mrs.Honey, and he hasn't even proposed".
Ben had a photographer waiting by the table. The photographer said we were naturals and asked Ben if he had anymore poses he wanted. Swaying back and forth with his hands in his pocket Ben said he had one more, got down on one knee and asked for my hand in marriage.
