We had been together for so long that I knew it was bound to happen, I just didn't know when and he completely surprised me which I loved!! On December 22, 2012, I was coming home from Chicago with my friend, Lena. I had Joey pick me up at the Airport because, like a typical girl, I packed too much and didn't want to park and carry all my bags with me. When he picked me up he said he was hungry and wanted to go eat at Center Court, of course! I was exhausted but agreed because I was hungry too and wanted to spend some time with him. I was anxious to get home to see Jack and he kept asking me that all night(I should of known something was up!). As soon as I came in I let him out to give him hugs & kisses and noticed he had a nice fancy collar on. I mentioned how nice it was to Joey and noticed there was a dog tag on it as well. I went to read it and saw our names on it... I glanced at the other side, which had a lot of writing on it, so I assumed it was our contact information. Joey had a funny look on his faced and asked me "Well did you read it?". I said "Yes, It has our name on it", he told me to read the other side... As soon as I started to read it, I saw him get down on one knee. It took me by total surprise and I asked him "What are you doing???". He got down on one knee and I think was only able to say "Samantha, will......" He was nervous and couldn't finish the rest so I just said YES!! It was very special and a perfect proposal because Jack was a big part of it! I am looking very forward to spending the rest of my life with Joey!!

Samantha was flying in from a trip to Chicago with a friend. After I picked her up from the airport, we went to grab a bite to eat at our (my) favorite place for pizza and brew, Center Court. I didn’t want to go anywhere fancy or different because I wanted it to be a complete surprise. We ate a few slices of pizza, had a couple beers and headed home.

When we got home I put the plan into place. Earlier that month I had gone to the pet store to get our dog Jack a new collar and a custom I.D tag. On the I.D tag is where I wrote the message, Samantha Will You Marry Me? Before I left to pick up Sam from the airport I put on Jack’s collar with the I.D tag. When we got home, the first thing Sam did was open Jack’s crate to give him a hug. (Those of you that know Sam know that she LOVES this dog.) She noticed his collar and said, “Wow you got a nice new collar.” (She’s not too observant). I told her to look at his tag cause I had gotten him a special I.D…She looked at it and said,…”cool”. I asked her if she had read it and she said,  “yes, it says Samantha and Joey”. (She only looked on one side of the tag) I told her to look on the other side. While she was looking for the other side of the tag, I pulled the ring box from my pocket and got down on one knee. When she looked up I asked her to marry me. I was barely able to get the words out because of nerves and excitement. Fortunately for me, she said yes.

Come to find out she never read the other side of the I.D tag. Before putting it on Jack I had shined it up so it would look nice. The shine caused a bright glare so she was never able to read the words until after I asked.
