You can't go to Australia without paying homage to THE Crocodile Hunter himself. Unfortunately Steve Irwin is no longer with us (RIP), but we can view the legacy he left behind. This half day trip includes guided walking tours through naturally, preserved habitats, views of koalas, sea turtles, and more, as well as a cruise through Hartley's Lagoon. To finish this wonderful crocodile adventure, a special feeding takes place, open to the tour members!

We love Dairyland, and we haven't even been there! Jeff better not forget his heartburn pills, because this is a cheese and ice cream hot spot! Gallo Dairyland manufactures their own yogurt, cheese, and ice cream, among other things. What more could a honeymoon ask for than stopping by a local creamery and taste testing Australian flavors? I hope they have Vegemite flavored ice cream!

Kangaroos are seen as a nuisance to locals, but Jeff and Sarah see them as adorable, kickboxing, jumping cats. If there is any place to see them, it is Australia, in their natural habitat. There is a nearby kangaroo and joey farm in Cairns that is just waiting to be visited!

This island held one of the many prisons known in Australia, and it was also the most extreme. This trip would be an all day cruise from Strahan which tours around the harbor, including making a stop at Sarah Island!

Cairns, Australia is on the doorstep of the Great Barrier Reef. Here will be our home base for all of our snorkeling and diving adventures. Additionally, Cairns is home to many of Australia tropical species and boarders not one, but two, World Heritage Areas. We will be in Cairns for six days and six nights, but will only spend four nights in a hotel and the rest on the liveaboard boat.

As a part of our journey, we would like to visit Tasmania. A flight from Melbourne, Australia to Hobart, Tasmania would put us in the middle of "devil's country". Hobart is Tasmania's largest city, and is home to the University of Tasmania's Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies. We will fly out New Years Eve and take part in the "Tastes of Tasmania" food festival in Hobart on New Years Day.

We are hoping to stay close to all of our activities and walk as much as possible, however, there is limited public transportation. For example, the airport in Melbourne is 22 km away from the city center, and a taxi is $70. While not a glamorous gift, this is a pragmatic one.

Going to Australia in the dead of summer is not only going to be hot, but it's also going to be HOT. That's why we are asking for some basic paraphernalia to help with the heat of the sun! Sunblock is a must! As well as bug spray for when we head to the Daintree Rainforest (there are mosquitoes, 300 species to be exact), sunhats, a travel pillow (or two), and water, lots and lots of water!
